December 17 - Ran 2 miles with the dogs, sick as dog . Some mystery bug going around, I thought it was a hot flash that didn't end , had a fever of 101 .
December 18 - Did some Christmas shopping and nothing else , no fever just felt tired
December 19 - Hiked 1.5 on the harder trail at Hidden Valley . I did not hesitate on the very steep downhill . It wasn't pretty but I did get down it
December 20 - Went to lunch with friends to celebrate Doomsday . Wore my 5" leopard peep toes on their maiden voyage . I could walk well enough as well as I can anyway in 5" heels . Still having an issue with the toe . When it was x-rayed she told me I had broken the corner of the joint off and had arthritis in that space caused by the trauma . I am guessing what I feel now is that arthritis , let me tell you it sucks . I call it my toe but it is actually my first metatarsal, the joint in my foot right behind my big toe . The original injury was maybe close to two years ago I ran very hard downhill into a rock , jamming my foot . I did nothing about it and kept running . I did it again earlier this year re injuring it . I finally had it looked at in March or April to find out what was wrong with it .
December 21 - the world did not end , so I'm still here . I guess I will be a year older .
Pretty happy with the balance disk it's doing great things for my back and hip . I can't cross my legs which was really causing problems with my hip and knee . Now when I stand up there is no pain or stiffness and my hip does not ache at night . I have lost an inch or two around my waist just from sitting and balancing all day . I would highly recommend these things for anyone who sits for any length of time .
Huge storms forecast for the next few days I have some time and plan on upping my mileage . There is a run tomorrow on one of my favorite trails but it is fairly high and might have too much snow. The plan is to try 6 miles running 3ish hiking the other 3 , we'll see how the weather is .
Merry Christmas!
