Four letter words ...

Week Four ( both 4 letter words )

November 15- Walked the dogs at Hidden Valley 2 miles , single track and Jeep road . Did the TMR exercises , managed 10 sit to stand on my bad leg the last two weren't pretty but it was an improvement .  Still did the leg raises added another pound so 4# on my bad leg , 6# on my good leg , 60 reps . The trail has some gentle ups and downs but the overall on my GPS is almost level .

This is week 5 for Spot who bowed a tendon badly , like a race horse instead of a 27 year old retired horse . In the olden days we said it took as many months as there were letters in the injury to heal . Spot should be healed in 6 months which is pretty much what we are thinking . He is still wrapped everyday and confined to a small pen . Brian tried to hand walk him but he just got too wild . I had to go out on crutches and rewrap his leg the day after surgery . Every morning I rewrap , it's a struggle to squat down and wrap it while he mugs me for candy and moves around . The other day he clocked me in the forehead with his knee . I think he'll go another week wrapped and then I'll see how he does without it .

November 16- Should have gone to the gym but Brian called we went to lunch instead .  Right now the plan is to increase my mileage over the next week which I have off for Thanksgiving . I'm going on a group run Saturday , I'm not running but Brian and Joe will run with some other runners on Peavine . I'm going to try and go 4-5 miles , it's up and down and some technical rocky stuff but it should be fine .

This weeks 4 letter words - ouch ( sit to stand ) , Spot ( pain in my ass ) , walk ( getting tired of it ) , plan ( have several ) , food ( love to think about it )

November 17 - Did @5 miles on the lower part of the 50/50 course . We got the walk/run in before it started raining like crazy . It was an eventful run including a very drunk bum in piss soaked pants offering me booze , I've written the story before so I won't bother telling it again . It was rocky technical single track with some good climbs . The knee was sore later that day and I had run maybe 1/8 - 1/4 to get away from the drunk guy .

November 18- Did nothing at all . My left knee is having a popping and a slight catch which has me a bit concerned . It is a veteran of 3 surgeries including the unhappy triad MCL , ACL , meniscus , it has screws holding it together  . I'm hoping it will calm down in a day or two .

I have the entire week off and don't go back to work until the 27th . My plan is to double up on the walking and the bike plus some stretching and other stuff .
